The Calcutta University Law Entrance Test is conducted by The University of Calcutta in the month of August/September every year. Admissions in the fourteen law colleges under the University of Calcutta are based on the Merit List of the Entrance Test and there is no provision for direct admissions.

According to the Bar Council of India (BCI), law students are required to complete a minimum number of internship weeks during their legal studies. For the five-year integrated law course (B.A. LL.B.), students must complete a minimum of 20 weeks of internship, while those in the three-year LL.B. program need to complete 12 weeks. These internships should be spread throughout the course, preferably after each semester. No single internship should exceed four weeks in duration within a single academic year.

The UGC-NET (University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test) and SET (State Eligibility Test) are both eligibility exams in India for the post of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities and colleges. On one hand, National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of UGC conducts the NET Examination twice a year (June and December) and on the other hand, the SET Examination is conducted by the respective state agencies usually once a year (no fixed time).
